Sayuni Capital is Kenya's first fund manager focused on investing solely in businesses owned or led by either female or local entrepreneurs, an overlooked segment for most investors in Africa. We invest at the intersection of economic empowerment and equality to contribute to a flourishing society.
Our Focus Sectors
We invest in companies serving the growing African consumer base, across the value chain: light manufacturing, agribusiness, logistics & distribution, and consumer goods & services. We aim to empower women both as consumers and producers, and so will invest both where women are highly represented (e.g., agribusiness) and where their representation is low and can be higher (e.g., light manufacturing).
Once we invest, we support our portfolio companies to establish good governance, define a defensible strategy and execute on value creation. We believe in our entrepreneurs running the companies, and we provide the support that's required to build world-class generational business.
We work with exceptional founders building growth-stage SMEs that are EBITDA profitable or approaching profitability. We primarily focus on mezzanine debt, but will consider equity investments. We don't subscribe to investment labels (seed round or Series A or B); instead we believe in providing capital when the business needs it.
